1. The Privacy Pledge

Standard Garden is built upon the belief that reading and writing should be private, contemplative activities. We do not monetize your attention, we do not sell your personal data, and we do not profile your reading habits.

2. What We Collect and Why

• Anonymous Visitors & Writers: If you write an anonymous note without creating an account, we do not require an email address or password. We temporarily record anonymous notes for 7 days.
• Registered Accounts: When you register, we store your email address and authentication credentials (handled securely via BetterAuth sessions or passkeys). We use your email strictly for authentication, account security, and transaction receipts.
• Content & Assets: Notes and uploaded media are stored on Cloudflare D1 and R2 storage.
• Aggregated Vitality (Analytics): We count note views in an aggregated, privacy-preserving manner without tracking cookies, cross-site identifiers, or fingerprinting.

3. Payment Information

Subscriptions ($80/year for Pro) are processed through Stripe. Standard Garden never receives, sees, or stores your credit card numbers or banking information. Stripe handles transactions under their own privacy and PCI-DSS security compliance standards.

4. Cookies & Local Storage

We only use essential functional cookies required for:

• Maintaining authenticated sessions when you log in.
• Remembering local interface preferences (such as your chosen theme or editor font).

We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or marketing tags.

5. Data Deletion & Export

You have the complete right to export and delete your data at any time:

• Composting notes: Composting a note immediately removes it from public discovery and deletes it permanently.
• Account Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated notes directly from your profile settings.
