An Empty Desk
Everything left except the lamp, the keyboard, and one pencil.
Day one felt like an art installation. Day three, the desk stopped being a topic at all — which was the point. A clean surface is not a moral achievement; it is a cache eviction. The objects were open tabs.
What remains does more. The pencil gets used because it is the only pencil. The lamp feels deliberate at night, like a sentence with one verb.
Minimalism fails when it becomes a hobby of acquiring less. It works when it is just this: a quiet place for the next thought to land.
The maximalist rebuttal: an-ode-to-ornament.
