Default Settings Are a Design
Nobody changes the defaults. Study after study, product after product: the out-of-box state is the product for ninety-something percent of humans.
Which means the defaults page is the most-used interface you ship, and the settings panel is mostly a museum of your indecision. Every toggle is a question you refused to answer on behalf of your user.
This garden takes the position seriously: beautiful is the default, private is the default for your vault, sustainable is the default for the planet. The settings you never open are the ones we sweated most.
The bill for bad defaults: two-months-with-eink.
