3.0 The Canonical Lexicon & Naming

In Standard Garden, vocabulary is an architectural decision. As established during our earliest foundations in December 2025: “Naming things correctly changes how you build them.”

Our code, our interfaces, and our documentation speak with the same intentional voice. We reject corporate buzzwords and advertising metrics in favor of words grounded in craft, soil, and permanence.

1. The Ecosystem

2. The Life Cycle of Thought

3. Surfaces & Typography

4. The Intelligence: Hyphe

Across the garden, machine intelligence is represented by a single unified identity: Hyphe (marked by the ph:sparkle icon).

Hyphe is an attentive librarian, not a synthetic author. Hyphe reads your published notes, constructs semantic vector embeddings, illuminates unexpected conceptual resonance across the Mycelium, and answers natural-language questions grounded strictly in what your garden knows. Hyphe operates under our non-negotiable anti-slop mandate: it never generates filler content, never ghosts an author’s voice, and never writes articles for you.

5. The Anti-Definitions (What We Refuse to Build)

Standard Garden is defined just as much by what we choose to exclude:

No Feeds, Timelines, or Algorithmic Churn: We replace the infinite scroll with deliberate destinations: the daily communal blossom (/daily) and the serendipitous walk (/random).
No “Content”: We do not produce “content” to feed algorithmic engagement funnels. We publish writing and thinking.
No Vanity Metrics: No likes, no retweets, no follower counts. Influence in the garden is measured by Gravity (the density of thought and honest citations), not dopamine-driven clicks.
No Synthetic Slop: We reject the flood of AI-generated noise polluting the web. The words in Standard Garden are authored by living human minds.
