Your Garden's Front Page

Your root note: homepage, profile, custom domain and network settings.

Your Garden’s Front Page

There is no web dashboard. In Standard Garden, your root note is your homepage and your control panel: one normal note whose frontmatter describes your whole garden.

The root note

There is no complex web dashboard. In Standard Garden, your root note IS your homepage and dashboard.

To create a custom homepage, personal manifesto, or studio index:

  1. In your local Obsidian vault, create a note and set permalink: / in the frontmatter.
  2. Add your global garden parameters (garden-domain:, garden-mycelium: false, default theme:, font-header:, etc.).
  3. Mark it visibility: public and publish: true.

When published, this note supersedes the standard profile layout. Anyone visiting your root URL lands directly on your bespoke presentation.

# Welcome to the Atelier

This is my quiet corner of the web...

Garden Profile Settings

On your root note, the Garden panel shows a Garden Profile Settings block — a form for the keys that describe your whole garden. Each field writes one frontmatter key, so you can also type them by hand:

Panel field Key Effect
Display name garden-display-name The name on your account page (defaults to your username).
Custom domain garden-domain Your own domain for the garden.
Brand logo garden-brand false hides the header and footer; text or an image URL becomes your brand mark.
Favicon garden-favicon The site icon.
Avatar garden-avatar Your portrait (image URL or vault path).
Command Launcher garden-launcher false removes the command Launcher for your visitors.
Mycelium Network garden-mycelium false keeps you out of the community directory and daily feed.

Custom domain (garden-domain:)

Declare your custom domain directly in the frontmatter of your root index note:

---
title: "Francis Fontaine"
permalink: /
garden-domain: "francisfontaine.com"
garden-mycelium: false
visibility: public
publish: true
---

When published, Standard Garden automatically provisions Cloudflare for SaaS hostnames and binds your domain with zero manual cloud console configuration.

Custom domains are part of Standard Pro. Run ::domain in the Command Palette to see the DNS records to add and to verify them.

Mycelium Isolation (garden-mycelium: false)

If you operate on a custom domain and wish to publish public client portfolios, research papers, or private essays without having them surfaced in the centralized Standard Garden community directory or daily feed, specify garden-mycelium: false. Your notes remain fully accessible to anyone on your domain while enjoying complete peace from the wider network.
